Description

Students will have a worksheet consisting of words beginning with the letter G and H. They are to put words in alphabetical order.

This lesson is for third through fith grade. You can also use it for special education students.

Goals

How to put words in alphabetical order

Materials Needed

The worksheet I have included in this lesson.
Pencils and Erasers

Procedure

First, you will copy the worksheet so that each student will have a copy.

Then, you will explain to the students how to put words in alphabetical order. The worksheet is in two parts. Part One consists of alphabetizing G words. Part Two consists of alphabetizing H words.

Examples: Good, Great, Greeting, Grant = Since these words begin with G, students will look at the other letters in each word. The answer to the examples is Good, Grant, Great, and Greeting.

After that, you will pass out the worksheets so the students can work on them independently.

When they have completed the worksheet, you will collect them. Worksheet - Alphabetizing Words

Part One - Alphabetizing Words That Begin With G

3. Game

4. Gentle

5. Greeting

6. Ghost

7. Geography

8. Gigantic

9. Gallery

10. Great

Part Two - Alphabetizing Words That Begin With H

1. Higher

2. Huge

3. Humanity

4. Houseboat

5. Humidity

6. Honesty

7. Hospital

8. Homonym

9. Hungry

10. House

Grading

Each one is worth five points for a total of 100 points.

100 to 90 = A

89 to 80 = B

79 to 70 = C

69 to 60 = D

Below 60 = F
