  • I disagree with the comments posted before mine. The bathrooms were not bad. And there were 4 available to students
(one in the REC, one in the gym, and two near the principals office). Also, this school was great. I was enrolled in AP courses that were just as challanging as the college courses I currently take at LSU. I am sorry to hear that so many girls skipped school. I wish they had taken advantage of the library's resources, teacher's office hours, and chapel, as I did. Maybe they would have had a better education at Blenk. Also, I disagree with the comments made about the students from Domincan and Cabrini. They acted like everyone else who went to another school because of the storm. Some found friends and were nice, others could not get over being in an alien environment,so they acted like they were better- so what? We were all just teenage girls.
Again, Blenk was a great school, despite what other comments have said.

  • I AM GLAD THAT THE PRINCIPAL FINALLY RETIRED. THE SCHOOL NEEDS SOME NEW, FRESH IDEAS. THE PROGRAMS AND CONDITION OF THE SCHOOL NEEDS TO BE REVIEWED. I THINK THAT THIS WILL BE GOOD FOR THIS SCHOOL AND IT MAY BE ABLE TO CHANGE IT'S REPUTATION.

  • I have had 2 daughters graduate from this school. One did what she wanted to. After graduation, she told me that she skipped school most of the time with her friends. She went to a private college and "flunked out" after 2 years. The other daughter is self sufficient and made excellent grades. She went to visit colleges on her own (without me even knowing) and found one of the most prestigious colleges in the U.S. to accept her and give her a "major" scholarship for a lot of money. Blenk did nothing to help her. She would be a "flunk-out", if she were not so self determined. She also stated that she skipped school on a regular basis. Both girls complained of a common occurrence for the administration to hide pregnancies and once girls start "showing", they get home schooled and graduate from there with the same degree as your daughter. Of course, all of the girls know about it, so it is not discouraged to control yourself from pregnancy.

  • Before Katrina---The girls had no where to go to the bathroom for years. There is only one functioning bathroom in the school. They stink and I can't even explain to you how dirty it is. I have seen cleaner bathrooms in gas stations. Most bathrooms are locked out from the girls. The office staff ignored me as a parent, were rude to me on the phone, like it was a chore to change me to another extension. The teachers never returned my calls. It was as if my daughter made it through school on her own and thank goodness, she did a good job at that. After Hurricane Katrina, girls from other schools were allowed in. The Dominican girls kicked the other girls out of their "spots". There was not enough room for their own students to eat, much less taking on others. The Blenk girls ate outside or didn't eat at all (they ran out of food a lot). I think that Dominican and Cabrini owe the Blenk high school an apology. As Christians, we offered our school to them and instead the girls were "snobby and mean" to the Blenk girls. They literally took over their school. A party was held at my house when the hurricane school girls left. When the outsiders were in the school, there were actually fist fights-one girl had her entire weave pulled out of her hair!! The Blenk girls had never seen anything like that. My daughter had never seen a fist fight before. They were all in shock!! Most girls counted down the days until the "hurricane girls" gave them their school back. For their senior year, it was quite miserable and will always be memorable since many people lost everything and had to put up with the ugliness of those that they tried to help. It's really a shame. Cabrini and Dominican--think of a thank you statue or something to undo the damage that those girls have done to the physical, mental, and property of these kind hearted girls.
