  • Doane Stuart may have a strong tradition of excellence but the pedagogy of the teachers is significantly lagging behind current (even 20 year old) research on how student's learn. And the teachers seem to believe that yelling at students and even, in some cases, calling them names qualifies as classroom managment.

The school discourages parental involvement beyond donating money and being sure that homework is done.

Some children certainly excel there but only if they respond to "sit and get" lectures and hours of worksheet-style homework each night.

Overall, it's not a bad school but certainly not the model of excellence that they portray. The administration is more concerned about raising money for a new campus then about meeting the needs of the students and families they serve.
