  • After several parent teacher conferances, my sons teachers assured me his grades were good enough to pass him to the third grade, but the numbers they showed me did not add up, and the way they explained it did not make sense. according to the school he is in third grade, but his lessons; homework, are a duplicate of second grade. I have just become aware of this, and haven't investigated it fully, but as I look at the Ga. public school ranking, it brings to surface many of the questions That I had last year.
If georgia is ranked 39 out of 51 states, I believe it could be from some of the re-hashed lessons, babying students, and not being 100% honest w/ the parents. While parents are responcible for helping there children out with homework projects etc., I believe it is the teachers recponcibility to drive the lessons home with the kids. these parent teacher conferances whre they show names of programs, and talk GPS averages, and the CRTC minimum scores, dilutes the real issue of A, B, C, D, or F's in the subjects. I want to know the bottom line . I ask this at every conferance. When the child has so many teachers, especially in special needs programs, it becomes confusing for a parent, ecpecially when I sit through a meeting with the teachers aned a special needs teacher can't figure out a fraction. TRUE STORY.
