  • I went through the Murray Co School system and I felt like I received a very good education. Graduated then went to Univ. of Tenn. I feel you get what you put into your own education, if you feel that your children did not receive a " good" education then look inside and do not blame others. My daughter graduated from MCHS 3 yrs ago and is @ Agnes Scott College. We never had a problem with upper and lower admin nor teachers. My only problem was the atheltics.

  • I have 2 children in Murray county Schools. I'm not proud of it & as they become adults they will not have anything to be proud of either. That is sad. Every county office and every school position is run by the good ole boy system. Its who u are & who u know. Gets worse every year. Our children can't prosper from it. Wake up, they need more chances, real educational chances as well as vocational chances. Unfortunately I'm not just a parent that has had to deal with a few experiences or seen a few things, nor am I an angry parent from something that didn't gothe way my child wanted it. Sadly I have lived, worked, among the good ole boys, and listened to many parents & children that have experience the unfairness that Murray County holds so highly. We don't care about our students test scores or grades, we don't care that they can't be motivated in their sports because they know they are going to loose like every year BECAUSE ALL THAT MATTERS IS "THE GOOD OLE BOY SYSTEM " I just wanted so much more for my children in their education for them & their futher. I will end with: if I knew 15 yrs ago when I came here, what I know now, my children's home town would not have been Murray county. It would have been something they would have been proud of - something they deserved-lije so many other children here do: (

  • This high school is not concerned with anything. It is sad when you go to register your 10th grader and all you hear, in front of teachers who do nothing, are other kids telling new kids who to sleep with!

  • It's who you are and who you know at Murray County High school. Coaches are hired with no experience in coaching. The Baseball coach never even played ball in high school or college, and he's the head coach. Go figure. What's really sad is they are coaches who played and even coached college ball, but because of the good ol boys club, they may never get to teach the players how to really play. It's really sad that the surrounding high school get there players signed to play college ball, and Murray County may have one or two signed and that is because the parents followed through and caused it to happen. Yes there is one or two assis.coaches that go out of their way to help the students, but as of now there is no head coach worth having.

  • Once a school with tremendous potential, all this has been squandered away by local demagogues, hayseeds and people consumed by petty politics.A school that has flaunted the rules of a more modern society now must soberly face up to what other schools across the county have been dealing with for years.High dropout rates and low attendance remain as two of the top concerns but the now large Mexican population has exacerbated the entire learning environment resulting in gang fights and other safety issues.
One certainly cannot blame the current administration for the lack of vision by the so-called leaders of the past.Blindly led by a myopic school board dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century by No Child Left Behind that no longer allowed them to wink and nod at state and federal regulations the school finds itself in a real bind academically, athletically, and socioeconomically. They are at a literal as well as figurative crossroads now that they finally realized that neither \"BIGGER\" is better in the size of a school nor that one school fits all in the needs of students.
This school system remains one of the few institutions where the most mediocre people are constantly placed on a pedestal and praised. The good old boy system has flourished for decades and created a vacuum of good people in the system.Hiring only local people has the same effect as inbreeding. It stifles creativity and runs quite low on new ideas.
The good news is they can still sit back and think about the golden years of Murray County High School.Back before they ran off all the good teachers and coaches that put the students first and tried hard each day to make a difference.Yep-those were the good ole' days.Good times.
