  • This school district is questionable. They say they don't have funding for things needed such as gym, art, and books. where is the money. I have never heard of a school that does not have gym. Last year everyone was up in arms if there would be a Talala school to go to. I would not reccoment anyone to send their child to this school or this district!

  • I actually attended this school back in 1976- 79. My parents pulled me out, claiming I could get a better education at private school. Did I receive that? In my opionion, NO. Yes, I was a bit "active" as a child, but overall, my sisters and I were good kids. We certainly raised a lot more hell in private school, where the education certainly lacked, and there was a lot less diversity.

At Talala, I received the opportunity to expand on the talents I had. I was a voracious reader by second grade, and my reading was encouraged. Even back then, I felt school was tough, but I did well to rise to the occasion. In private school, they went out of their way to make me feel like an idiot.

Overall, I have done well for myself, but over the years, I still reflect on my grade school education and feel that Talala was a wonderful school for me to attend. I had a principal, Mr. Edmunds, who was caring and kind, and my teachers, though tough, really were very good. I happened to stumble across this website while doing a little research on my grade school, and I was pleased to see it is still open and thriving, with the same philosophies and happy kids as when I went there.

If a kid can still have these great feelings about a school thirty years later, that has to count for something....
