  • This school's driving force seems to be centered around athletic achievement, which vastly overshadows academics. Although South High has much to offer, in that students are able to choose from a wide variety of recreational pursuits, in all my unfortunate 4 years of attendance, the basis of grading seems rely heavily on an excessive workload consisting of soul-crushingly repetative copy-from-the-textbook assignments. In fact, in many core-curriculum classes, if a student failed every single test but turned in every homework assignment in completion, said student would still maintain an easily passing grade. In addition to the academics severely lacking, the majority of the administration staff are woefully closed-minded individuals who do not know how to adequately resolve altercations between students. There are physical fights on a regular basis with dismal repercussions, and students with alternative lifestyles are subjected to constant physical and emotional abuse from peers as learning is made nigh impossible in a hostile environment. Chewing tobacco can be seen smeared against walls in the bathrooms, and even on the carpeted floors of classrooms. If you are an athletically inclined individual looking to get a leg-up in sports, this just might be the school for you! But if you want a solid education, I strongly emplore you to look elsewhere. You will not find that here.
