  • Haley school is a great school for learning. They often focus on reading programs and have events geared toward reading and families being together. They held book fairs and family nights. I had 2 children attend Haley and we were happy with the school and Mr. Spicer as well. He knows my 2 children by name and still calls them by their first names when he sees them. (my older son who is 24 and in the Army did not attend Haley, we were in a different school district) Both kids were year long honor roll students for each year they attended Haley. My daughter was at Haley 1st-5th grade. She was nominated for the Alma Chamber award in 5th grade like her younger brother was this past year. She was in a club at Haley called Horizons her 5th grade year. They did special projects. (Used math and science skills in the club.) There were not as many clubs at Haley then like there are now. At Haley she showed great citizenship, respect, had good grades and helped others in school. My daughter is now a 17 year old honor student at Snider and she is also a tutor for Haley students (this will be her 3rd year for tutoring, her 9th grade year she also helped a student at Blackhawk Middle School and Haley.) She was in orchestra for 5 years, (6th thru 10th grade) art club one year and she is also in the Science Club at Snider for 2009-10 school year. She is also a member of the National Honor Society at Snider. Her younger brother was at Haley K-5th grades,(5th grade was 2008-09) He is an honor student for each grade, the entire year. His reading is fabulous. He has a great attitude and was respectful to all. He was nominated for the Alma Chambers award this past May for grades, attitude, citizenship. He received many nice awards throughout the year. He was chosen for safety patrol for 5th grade, math bowl, newspaper. He was in the school bowling club for 4th and 5th grade (at the end of the club they had a party for all the kids) he was in the spelling bee and played basketball after school in 5th grade. There were some teachers I felt that were better than others, but overall, they were great. Especially his 3rd, 4th grade, and 5th grade teachers. Awesome school and awesome teachers. Mrs. Beard, Mrs. Weitfieldt, Mrs. Sommers, Ms. Dugger, Mrs. Bell, Mr. Megles and Mr. Babbitt, all of whom are still teachers there. Great school with some fabulous teachers who care about our kids. Thanks Haley School. M. Johnson
