  • I AM IN ABSOLUTE SHOCK. I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO SAW THIS SCHOOL AS BEING "OUT THERE". IT IS SAD IN THIS DAY AND AGE THAT WE TRY TO PUSH OUR CHILDREN TOO FAR TOO FAST. THEY GROW UP FAR TOO FAST AS IT IS. TO THINK THAT A SCHOOL WOULD NEARLY ELIMINATE PHYSICAL FITNESS. MY SON ATTENDS THIS SCHOOL AND I HAVE FIRST HAND SEEN THE WAY IN WHICH STAFF TALKS DOWN TO THE CHILDREN AND REFUSES TO HEAR PARENTS COMPLAINTS. IT IS A CLOSED NETWORK, ALMOST CULT LIKE AT THE SCHOOL. I HAVE SEEN THE SCHOOL'S SOCIAL WORKER ACT AS IF SHE HAS AUTHORITY OVER THE SCHOOL. AS A MATTER A FACT WHEN THE PRINCIPAL RUNS HOME EACH DAY SHE FILLS IN AND CARRIES ON AS IF SHE WERE PRINCIPAL. THE LUNCH AIDES MAKE RULES AS THEY GO. EXCEPTIONS FOR THOSE PARENTS IN THE "CLICK" IF YOU WILL. IT IS A CLOSELY GUARDED LITTLE VILLAGE AND OUR CHILDREN ARE THE ONES WHO SUFFER. CHILDREN NEED EXERCISE TO EXPAND THEIR PHYSICAL SKILLS AS WELL AS THEIR SOCIAL ONES. WE ARE DESIGNED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY WITH BALANCE IN THE TWO AREAS. THE CHILDREN HAVE ALL THIS BUNDLED UP ENERGY AND NO WAY TO RELEASE IT. THIS IS A STATE FUNDED SCHOOL AND I AM OUTRAGED THAT MY CHILD IS GETTING SHORT CHANGED. HE DESERVES BETTER. I AM ALL FOR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT BUT IT DEFIES LOGIC THAT THE SCHOOL GROUNDS ARE OPEN TO STRANGERS WHILE SCHOOL IS IN PROGRESS. THE KIDS HAVE FUNCTIONS OUTSIDE WHILE PEOPLE JUST STROLL BY JOGING: ABSOLUTE STRANGERS. NOW HERE IS THE CATCH, TRY TO SEE YOUR CHILD AT SCHOOL AND THERE IS A LAUNDRY LIST OF "CAN'T DO" THINGS. CLOSED LUNCHES, SIGN IN SHEET FOR SOME, NOT ALL PARENTS. IN THIS DAY AND AGE YOU WOULD THINK THAT PARENTS WOULD BE WELCOME TO SEE WHAT GOES ON AT THE SCHOOL. I ENCOURAGE EVERY PERSON WHO WANTS CHANGE TO GET INVOLVED. GO TO THE SCHOOL, DEMAND CHANGES BE MADE. BE CAREFUL YOU DON'T GET LIP SERVICE FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD BECAUSE THEY APPOINT PRINCIPALS AND STAFF. THEY ARE NOT GOING TO REPRIMAND THE VERY PERSONS THEY PUT IN THOSE POSITIONS. COMPLAIN TO THE STATE, WRITE LETTERS, DO NOT TAKE "NO" AS AN ANSWER UNLESS IT IS "NO" YOU ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANY MORE. I AM NOT SCARED TO SAY WHAT MANY OF YOU ALREADY THINK. BE AN OAK TREE FOR YOUR CHILD. I ONCE HEARD, " YOU KEEP LEARNING THE LESSON UNTIL YOU LEARN THE LESSON:" IT WAS FROM OPRAH. THEY ARE NOT GOING TO CHANGE SO WE MUST. ONE LAST NOTE LAST YEAR I WAS WALKING TO A FUNCTION AT TE SCHOOL AND I WITNESSED AN EMPLOYEE AT THE SCHOOL SPRAYING THE INFIELD AT THE SCHOOL DURING SCHOOL HOURS. YOU MAY ASK WHY SHOULD YOU BE CONCERNED???? WELL THE ODOR WAS FAMILIAR, AS I HAVE WORKED FOR CHEMLAWN AND TRUEGREEN. THE HERBICIDES AND PESTICIDES GIVE OFF A DISTINCT SMELL AND I ASKED THE PERSON WHAT SHE WAS DOING. SHE WAS VERY NICE AND SIMPLY SAID IT HAD TO BE DONE DURING SCHOOL HOURS. I WAS FLOORED. LESS THAN 30 MINUTES LATER THE CHILDREN WERE IN THE SAME AREA THAT WAS JUST SPRAYED. NO FLAGS, NO NOTIFICATION, NOTHING. AMAZING YOU MAY THINK, NO, IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. NOW HERE IS THE IRONIC PART. THIS YEAR MY SON HAD TO STAY IN AND HAVE NO RECESS BECAUSE THE GRASS WAS SPRAYED. WELL THANKS BUT MY SON NEEDS HIS EXERCISE. THERE ARE TWO DAYS THAT WOULD BE A WHOLE LOT BETTER TO SPRAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. HOW ABOUT THAT? DO YOU THINK THAT THERE WERE ANY FLAGS OR NOTIFICATION? I SURE HOPE THAT SOME CHILD ALLERGIC TO TE CHEMICALS DOESN'T GET SICK. BY THE WAY THE CHEMICALS LOWER YOUR BODY'S ABILITY TO FUNCTION, THEY ARE OXYGEN INHIBITORS IN THE SPRAY AND I CAN ATTEST TO THIS AS I HAD TO RESIGN FROM CHEMLAWN 20 YEARS AGO FROM EXPOSURE. DO YOU WANT YOUR CHILD EXPOSED? DO YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO GET A GOOD EDUCATION MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY? IT IS NOT A COINCIDENCE THAT THE STAFF THAT MAKES THE DECISIONS ARE NOT PHYSICAL SPECIMENS SO MAYBE THEY DO NOT VALUE THIS FOR OUR CHILDREN. I AM NOT TAKING A CHEAP SHOT BUT IT IS NO WONDER THAT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAMS ARE NOT WHAT THEY COULD BE. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO EXCEL, I COMMEND YOU. YOU HAD TO DO IT WITHOUT YOUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S SUPPORT. YOU ARE EXCEPTIONAL.

  • This school is profoundly lacking in fun and amusement. Instead, students are expected to complete over 30 long term projects, including tedious book reports throughout the school year. I'm in middle school in all honors classes and it's about 100000 times easier than FHH.

  • The academic curriculum for the children is lacking tremendously in any type of physical fitness. Who suffers? The children do because they have bundled up energy and 20 minutes a day to burn it off. Who ever heard of gym class twice a week? We are promoting lethargic coach potato children. They are going home to a computer or play station3. By the time they realize it middle school is calling and they are so far behind physically that their interest in outdoor or physical fitness is just not in their routine. Children engage in familiar activities and rather than challenging themselves they give up. Did we forget to reward them for working hard? No, we just reward them with ho ho's and fat fast food. Then you send them home to have the t.v and game console to babysit our future leaders. Shame on us as parent. Shame on you as staff.
