  • The elementary schools that send to Altadena are wonderful. The high school (Desert Vista) that this school feeds is amazing. But I have to say that Altadena does not have the same standards. They are content to have the average to above average students remain where they are, as long as they pass AIMS. Some students have attended the high school's summer math academy, completed a full year of math with A's on the tests, and still not be placed in the next level course. Even the fifth grade teachers claim that sixth grade is "easy".

If your child is labeled gifted, attend this school. If your child is not, consider a Chandler school that challenges and supports the average to above average student with programs like AVID.

  • Altadena is a fabilous school! It is a conjoined school so it helps us. Teachers are nice, some strict but that can only help. All in all it is spectacular. I attended when it first opened and have frequently visited since. My sister is 10 years older and her daughter is currently enrolled. Anyway I just wanted to give a shout out that if you're moving to AZ come to the Awatukee region!

    Love,
    Miss Miller
