  • I was thinking tonight about Summit school for the first time in years and I started wondering if it still existed. So I go online and I see that it is still operational. I really hope that Summit School has changed dramatically since I was a student. In 98' I was put in the Summit School program because of a decline in my overall grade average. I was placed with a large range of people with different needs, however we were all treated the same. The teachers running the program didn't seem to have a grasp on reality at all, therefor putting my mental health in limbo. It just seemed to me like a bunch of burned out unsupervised adults playing god with influential kids. I cant believe this program is still continuing. It should have been discontinued a long time ago. I didn't find this school beneficial at all and would not recommend it! matter of fact I didn't even get to keep my all A's status while there because the teacher thought me moving out of my home at the time was an unhealthy decision to make. It was a complete waste of credits. Because of the loss of my credits I was forced to enroll in a community education school where I graduated a year later than I would have, and watch my sister and my friends graduate without me. Oh and by the way I had to leave home because of a violent household where eventually my father was placed in jail for the attempted murder of my mom. I am now very successful, I have a BSN in nursing, a husband and a family that I love dearly. I got to this point NOT with the help of that school but with the common sense to know what was right for me. If the school is different now then great. If not someone needs to shut that school down once and for all.
