  • Many of the assemblies are in Spanish. The curriculum is behind many of the other schools. Ranked in the bottom 5% of schools in the county. Violence even at the 3rd grade level. Child had a knife pulled out on them first month. Never have encountered this at any other schools my children have attended.

  • My Children were at Smithridge K-5th (6th grade moved to Pine MS three years ago) and had wonderful teachers. My children consistantly exceed standards and now are in advanced placement class and the IB program.
The school has stuggled with a growing ELL and transcient population. Smithridge always had highly qualified teachers, several with Masters degrees in Education. Many teachers moved on from Smithridge to teach other teachers in the district.
The leadership hasn't always been the best, until Sheila Meibergen became Principal. She turned around the schools leadership, welcomed parents and students to join in the process, and implemented new strategies for student educational growth. She also brought technology to Smithridge Teachers.
Using RTI, PBS, Interventions and afterschool programs, I believe Smithridge will have had it best year yet.
