  • My daughter completed her first year at RMMS in Kindergarten. She enjoyed her first year immensley. However, she is disappointed that her class next year does not include any of her friends. As a first time parent in this school system I am quickly finding out that they work very hard to separate all friends from each other. What kind of system doesn't foster relationships? I am very concerned about this policy. In addition, the new principle has eliminated the student directory, which has been available for years in the past. This voluntary directory only includes information that each family is comfortable including and is a valuable resource for parents, especially when their children meet new friends and want play dates. This directory allows parents to get to know one another and foster positive community relations and friendships for our children. However, this was taken away and now our sense of community is lost. Another disappointment with the administration. The teachers were wonderful in the Kindergarten class. However, not enough time was focused on play. Five and Six year olds need outside time, more than 2 minutes, and they often did not get any outside time. The school has a great academic reputation. However, there are other things just as important as academics that are not being addressed. I would like to see more time focused on helping the younger kids learn more about emotions, relationships, and giving them ample time to express themselves through their play.
