  • Many of my friends and I, attended this school back in the 1940's, when it was just a little brick three room school, with a library. It was known as the little Kendall school, being built by the owners of the Kendall Mill, for all the children whose parents worked at the Mill. Mrs. Cherry was the Principle and also the third grade teacher. There were BIG rocks out where the parking lot is now, and students used to fight to see who would get (Not physically) to take the erasers out there and beat them on the big rocks, until the chalk dust was out of them, so they would be ready for the next day. The children of today, will never know the fun that we had at that little school. AND, we WALKED to school. No buses. Oh my!! LOL It was the best times of our lives.
I wish that the Pawtuckett school, had some history of that time, and the teachers and school pictures. My friend and I would love to come to the school and let the children there, know what it was like to attend a three room school, with only three teachers, and the fun that we had back then.
If there are any archives of the three room school, and pictures, we would so love to get copies of them, as our 55th class reunion from West Mecklenburg High is coming up, next year.
    Thank you. Irma RAY/Cash

  • I attended this school back in the 1940's, when it was the Kendall school, built by the Kendall Mill, for the children whose parents worked in the Kendall Mill there, and Lived on the mill village. It was just a three room school at the time, and Mrs. Cherry was the principal. I wish that I could find some history and photos of the school, before it was enlarged.
