  • This school is horrible! Don't send your kids there! Various things have happened to me including the following: I was beaten up IN FRONT of a teacher and they did nothing; treated my parents and myself rudely because we are a military family; no support whatsoever from the counselors; and teachers are unwilling to help if you have a problem. One of the biggest problems I saw was that there is NO separation between church and state at all and this is supposedly a "public school". This means that if your child differs from the norm they will not receive any help from teachers, counselors, principals, or other faculty who are sticks in the mud so to speak about religion (aka- if your student is LGBT, atheist/agnostic, practices a different religion, doesn't attend church regular, etc.). Another thing about this school is that racism and sexism are rampant amongst the faculty and other students because this town is so isolated from the rest of the world. The biggest problem I found was that doing drugs and alcohol are a common activity of about 75% of the student population. When I attended there, we had to have drug sniffing dogs sweep the building every week and they would catch about fifteen students a week with drugs or alcohol in their possession.
In my opinion, try not to move to Minot at all because the entire town is like this but if you have to move there, send your children to Bishop Ryan or Our Redeemers because they, believe it or not, are much more open to differences than ANY of the other schools in Minot.
