  • The State of Tennessee and the US Dept of Education requires funding of special education.

Robertson Co Schools, specifically Springfield High School does not address funding of special education on an equal bases. For example, students that are gifted are placed in a special education category by Tennessee State regulation, yet are not funded adequate enough to receive the advanced courses (AP and advanced courses) to challenge them as do those students on the other end of the special education ladder.

Teachers are not hired or trained at adequate levels by the Administration or Robertson County School Board to qualify them to teach these courses. Those teachers who are qualified are assigned other classes which consumes their time, and in fact prohibits them from serving the special education (gifted) children.

The(gifted)students who fall under the same State and Federal protection of basic equality in the funding of these types of courses, also have the same rights as those with learning, or physical disabilities, but are being denied a basic right for equal treatment in the blanket denial of adequate teachers/courses dictated by School Administrative budget decisions.

Special Education should be equal at both ends of the spectrum with funds being equally divided to achieve this result!

  • As being apart of the Yellow Jacket clan, I give Springfield High School an 'A'. I had the chance to be in the inside of what most people consider a 'bad' school, and left there with the BEST experience. i am now a student of The University of Tennessee at Martin, and I would like to thank Springfield High School for giving me a nice foundation. I do not write this review to be bias, but to explain to others who may read this how important a school such as Springfield High is to a teen. The school is THE MOST diverse in the county and offers numerous classes that other schools within the county do not. It's a way of experiencing not so backyard regions of the world in your own backyard.
