  • My family recently moved to Mcwhirter school district. After reading some of the negative comments on this site I was concerned. I was greeted by staff on the first day of school and received a tour. I have a child in kinder and 2nd grade. Both teachers were very involved in the transition of my children to the new school. They both gave me their personal cell numbers and called me almost daily for the first week.
My children do not speak spanish and were placed in english only classes. Yes, there are bilingual programs but I think most schools do.
Needless to say, very good school, and professional and concerned teachers too!

  • This school is by far the worst when it comes to professionalism and pedagogy standards. I feel there is a lack of a consistent behavior management program, this starts with the principle and asst. principle (really you give students candy when they are sent to your office for disrupting class???). Way to reward the punishee! Parents and job seeking teachers RUN as far as you can from this school.

  • This school has been a waste of time for our son who has attended there two years. The school is now entirely designed for the non english speaking who are also the only ones able to attend the pre-k program. The few american kids really suffer from a severely substandard program there. We had no idea there was an alternative as we cannot afford private school. God willing our son will attend the local charter school next year. This school was good years ago when our two older daughters attended but now it could not be worse and I do not recommend it to anyone.
