  • Today I took my kids to the science festival at Montgomery College and met a couple of teachers from this school at their booth. They made us feel us unwelcome as possible. While we were standing at the table and looking at the instructions for how to do this activity they had set up one of them took away the instructions and said "new thing, you have to do it without instructions". This was clearly not part of the exercise, one of there students had started reading the instructions to us and gave up and handed them to us to read ourselves. So I looked at her and asked if she was serious, she sure was, and with a big snide grin repeated herself. So we were looking at this bunch of clothespins on the table and some other things, and had no clue what to do. So one of my boys says ok and picks up a couple of the pins, she then says"you have to do it without touching anything either". My kid didnt put them down quick enough I guess and the other techer chimes in. "Didnt you hear her? PUT THOSE DOWN." It was such a weird thing to be happening I didnt even react like I wish I would have, told this lady she cant push free people around like she does her 4th graders, and she certainly cant talk to my son like that. But it was so crazy I couldnt believe it. I kept thinking maybe this is legit somehow, surely we arent being bullied around like it seems like. So I look at her and say ok, so we need to do it without knowing what to do or touching it. They both look at me like thats right, very satisfied with themselves. So I said to my kids I guess this one has defeated us, I dont think we can figure this out, lets go", As we were walking away the two teachers were chuckling and enjoying the hell out of the situation, they had embarrassed and successfully bullied people. It wasnt until we had gotten to the car that I really processed what had happened and started wishing I'd let those two biddies have it. I'll close with this: I'm a high school teacher and department chair. In that capacity I work pretty frequently with elementary teachers. The worst ones, the ones I try my hardest to run off, are just like this. Bullies. They get into the teaching business so they can be around people they can control. These particular ones those were the absolue worst I have ever seen, willing to act like that in public,at an event away from their school, and with a parent present. I will never have anything to do with this school and recommend everyone with children they care about to stay away. When you have bullies operating as brazenly as these two do it's because it's a part of the culture at their school, I guarantee the principal is like this and most of the staff is too.
