  • My daughter attends Monahan Elementary School. This is her first year in this school. In my opinion the teachers at this school lack professionalism. My daughter comes home most days upset and almost in tears over the treatment she gets from the teachers. (...) makes the students stand in the hallway during class transfers while she carries on non work related conversations with another teacher before she will open the classroom door and allow the children in to start their assignments. (...) calls children lazy if they forget things and have to ask questions. The teacher will go over material and get upset when children ask them to expand on the subject; the teacher says if the students were paying attention the first time they would know what he was talking about, the fact is sometimes you have to give more than one example and not all students get it the first time. It is sad when a child is called lazy because they do not get it the first time and the teacher has to give more examples. I thought that was part of the teaching process. Some children do not get it the very first time and have to have multiple examples, or maybe its the teaching because my daughter was on the A/B honor roll at her previous school and now she is having problems in this school. Our main complaint is the lack of patience and teaching abilities of the teachers at Monahan Elementary School. After reading the post from the past about this school I would say it has not improved at all.

  • This school is over populated. They allow out of area students to bump up the money they get every year.

  • As a former teacher working at Monahan several years, I am very concerned about the administration. Our leader is hidden in her office doing her homework and our assistant principal is having the office staff fix her hair many a morning. My colleagues are working their tails off and when they needed help, our campus administrators turn their back on us. We were left with disruptive students and the other students were left suffering. If you look at the records, there has been a 25% teacher turnover every year since 2001. State of affairs are in sad condition at this school if you have 1 in 4 teachers leaving every year. Your school administration does not care until you voice your concerns. I wish good luck to my ex-colleagues and to your children who attend here.
