  • As parents of a former CLES student, we are very disgusted with this school and it's staff. My dtr attended CLES from K-5th grade. From first grade thru the fifth, we had to fight the principle and teachers for help that was available thru the school system. We provided a private tutors, however, as soon as she went to class it was no help to her. My dtr struggled as we did as well trying to help her. Basically, the "help" provided was a joke. Each year, we(parents) questioned hold her back that year. The very law that is to protect our children(NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND) is the very law that sets our children up to be failures in life. After my dtr completed the 5th grade with all c's,d's, and F's we decided to have her repeat the 5th grade in a PRIVATE SCHOOL. When we told Mr French, the principle, he was very angry and rude asking us "why would we hold her back?". We were even more stunned he stated, " there are 5 other students in the 5th grade that I should hold back this year". We informed him of our decision to pull her from CLES and place her in private school and in return Mr French stated that my dtr could not come on school property to attend the graduation of her 5th grade friends. We had my dtr retested this year and it was discovered that she had regressed to a 2nd grade reading level in the 6 yrs she was at CLES.
I AM PROUD TO REPORT THAT MY DTR HAS BEEN IN PRIVATE SCHOOL SINCE THE BEGINING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AND HAS MADE HONOR ROLL ALREADY. THE TEACHERS ARE DEDICATED TO HER AND WE HAVE FINALLY GOT TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM!
When students are held back, his school does not recieve money from the goverment for that student.
