Description

Students will think of something they would like to invent and write a how-to paper on that invention.

Goals

Students will learn:
To be creative
To write a how-to paper
To revise, edit, and submit a final copy

Materials Needed

Science book
Notecards or notebook paper
Pens and whiteouts

Procedure

First, students will look through their science book to gather some ideas about inventions. They can use the notecards to write down some information.

Then, they will write a how-to paper on some invention they would like to make. This needs to be an original invention.

Next, you will have them edit and revise their papers before they submit their final copies.

Finally, you will collect the papers and grade them.

Grading

You can grade on the organization of their paper and on their originality of the invention. You can also check on correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence and paragraph structure.
