Discovery Time School

We are a licensed, non-sectarian, non-denominational academic school for students ages 18 months through sixth grade. The Board of Directors is committed to growing the school each year until we are K-12. Our philosophy is deep learning and hands-on life skills. We nurture the individual child and encourage their gifts. We do not sit in rows; we do not teach to the test or identify skills based on arbitrary systems. Our students LIVE their education--fully invested, fully motivated, and with ownership of their futures. We have strong community partnerships, a committment to fine arts and foreign language, and an open door policy. This is a home setting in a community where older children freely mentor younger children, and where younger children strive to model the healthy choices of their older peers. It is education as it should be--joyful, dynamic, and engaging. The classrooms are democratic, and students have a lot of choices (even moreso in the upper levels) as to how they manage their time. It is a place of laughter and deep discussion--a place of self-discovery, individuality, stewardship, and lifetime friendships.
