(5 / 5) Flag as inappropriate - My daughter started at Live Oak Waldorf in the second grade and is now entering 6th grade. This school has allowed her to grow up gradually, developing her intellect and sparking her interest in learning, without hurrying her beyond her years. Because Waldorf main lesson teachers remain with their students from 1st through 8th grade, my daughter's teacher has become an extension of our family, caring about our daughter as much as any loving relative. She understands her temperament and works with it, helping our daughter overcome math anxiety and fostering her love of history and writing.
At this school, with its 40-acre campus, there are no fat kids. Everyday the children are outside, not only for games classes, but for lessons.
There are specialty teachers for handwork, painting, strings orchestra, rhythmic dance, choir, woodworking and sacred geometry [where children learn to see the perfection of forms in the natural world, making later study of mathematical theory tangible and intrinsic.]
This school provides our small family with a loving community. There are ten people I could call at anytime who would help us out if we asked. Parents are highly involved; teachers are dedicated in a way that only a 'teacher-run' school can support.
It is the best investment we could ever make in our daughter's future.
