School Description

St. Dominic School is open to Catholic and nonCatholic children.  We have a large and vibrant preschool for 3 yr. olds, 4 yr. olds, and Pre-K students.

Our elementary school accepts children in K-5th grades.  Students at our school continuously score above the 90th percentile range on the nationally normed achievement tests, the Iowa Test of Basic Skills.  Our school achieves this with small classes, rigorous academics, and respectfulness to all.  Besides academics, we also offer daily religion; biweekly music, art, library, computer technology, and physical education; plus weekly health class.  Come by and spend the day with us and see for yourself how great it is to be a part of this very special school family.

  • I think enrollment numbers are accurate, maybe a little low. There was an update to the parish this weekend and as of January 24, 2011, there are 112 students in preschool through fifth grade. The effort to grow enrollment at school is going well. Lower grades and preschool are expected to be at or near capacity for 2011-2012. Based on peoples' head nodding and smiling this weekend and what I heard from parishioners after Mass, there is a lot of community support for the school. There are a lot of good things happening here - great to see it and be a part of it!

  • St. Dominic is a great school. The teachers and staff are caring and wonderful to my child. We just moved her this year from one of the public elementary schools. The smaller class size and more rigorous program are just perfect for my daughter. In addition to the core academics, they have music, gym, art, library, health, choir, keyboarding, and religion classes. Moving her to St. Dominic School was the best decision we could have made...wish we had done it sooner.
