  • Both of my children attend St. Joesph's School and my wife and I are pleased with the school and staff. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a quality education for their children. We chose St. Joesph's because we refuse to send our children to Dinwiddie Public Schools.

  • Both of my children have been in public school in Chesterfield County, Virginia as well as in other Private schools other than St. Josephs. In my opinion, St. Joseph's (since being "rescued" by a huge effort on the part of the parents) has become deplorable. The new school administration went to mixed grade classes (e.g. one teacher/23 kids in the 3rd and 4th grade). All of the kids were taught 4th grade science and social studies (not third grade: how the accreditation body allowed this, I have no idea), an art teacher was the math teacher for the 3rd grade, and an unqualified teacher's assistant was hired to oversee the 3rd and 4th grade students while they worked in their workbooks. Several other higher grades were also mixed, of which the parents were not told until 2 weeks prior to the start of school that this was occurring (too late for other private schools). There is also a philosophy of punishment for academics (not turning in home work, regardless if it was a simple mistake). The school is also unclean, and there are security issues. Probably the worst issue is that the education is generally substandard to the public school system. The 3rd grade children are far behind the Chesterfield County schools (especially in math) as well as a year behind other private schools with the same tuition rate (out of parish or 83% of the families in St. Josephs school). Nothing is unfixable, and hopefully the hiring of a new administration will bring a more professional atmosphere and stop the mixed grades at the school. The school does have great promise, but the use of mixed grades has severely compromised the integrity of the school and issues with sanitation and security need to be dealt with ASAP. The two other reviews were based on the 2007-2008 school year as I would have written similar reviews last year.

  • St. Joseph provides a quality education as well as a safe environment for students to learn life's lessons. The family atmosphere allows the children to grow into Chrisitan citizens of this world. It is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools - an international accredition body.

  • I have been sending my daughter to St Joseph for 3 years, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the excellent education she has received. I'm so happy with St Joseph that I will be sending all 3 of my children there next year. If you’re looking for a great education and environment then there is no need to look any further!
