The mission of Hammer Montessori is to empower all students to develop strategies to gain the knowledge, skills and values needed to participate meaningfully in our diverse society and global economy. The Montessori classroom is divided into special learning areas that include practical life, sensorial, language arts, mathematics, geography, history, science, and the arts. Each classroom learning environment is prepared to meet the academic and social needs of each child. We specialize in individual and small group instruction. Uniquely designed and sequenced “hands-on” materials help isolate skills and lead the child through the curriculum. Teachers help children choose challenging materials to discover underlying concepts which lead to mastery of skills. • I am so glad there is a public Montessori school in San Jose Unified. My daughters are in 4th and Kinder, and are thriving here. I see them taking ownership of their learning experiences, and growing in confidence and leadership. They have had fabulous teachers who draw out the best from them. I am also excited about the parent community, which is growing and deepening every year. We love our school.

  • This is my son's second year Hammer. I was unsure of when to start my son in Kinder since his birthday is late August. I toured a few schools and was on the fence as what to do. Once I toured Hammer and saw the Montessori way of teaching I knew I had my answer. Great school and fantastic teachers. Your child will learn leadership skills, sense of community, and respect. Just wonderful...come check it out!!!
