  • as a former student an current prospective teacher and volunteer at Lake, I honestly say that Lake is an excellent school. As others have noted, this is in part because despite low financial support from the city, state, and country, many of the parents are affluent enough to contribute to field trips and art expenses. Many of these same parents also have the background and drive to supplement their own children's education, which then allows these students to perform better in class, and help support other students who need that help. Furthermore, the teachers there are by and large very helpful to those parents and students who ask for it in a non-confrontational way.

  • I agree, it is a nice school because it is in a "rich" neighborhood. However, the teacher's have AWFUL social skills. Going to open house is a complete and total nightmare. You sit in your child's seat so they can talk down to you. I am a younger mother (28 to be exact) but they speak to me as if my child and I are the same age. I may not have a master's degree, however I am a registered nurse and a human being for that matter. In hind sight I would have rather sent my child to a school in a poorer neighborhood where he could have actually got a better education instead of from some teacher who thinks she's all knowing just because she has a masters in language arts and music.

  • Good school because it's in a very good
geographical location. Teachers have very poor social skills

  • Good school, with great teachers. Their before and afterschool program needs to be expanded. There is no room for afterschool care, and the waiting list never moves! There are virtually no other realisitic after school programs in the Lake Elem area, so expanding the before and after school program should be seriously considered.
