  • All three of my children have attended Sunrise and we have had such support by the great staff to help them along.

  • My daughter started there in Kindergarten and is getting ready for 2nd Grade. Our child loved school starting out and because of teachers she had she totally made a 180. Example: We switched classes in Kindergarten as her teacher told us how bad our daughter was in reading etc but she would read great at home which made us suspicious. Plus our daughter would start having tummy aches, headaches before school, cry when we tried dropping her off... Come to find out the teacher would make comments in class if she misread something or just in general kind of making fun of her which made her so selfconcious that she refused to read out loud in class and the teacher threatened to fail her. After the switch all of a sudden that child that the previous teacher wanted to fail was getting praises for reading within a few days! Plus the Principal at the time didn't even want to know why we wanted to switch classes, absolutely no visible interest in what was going on in her school! First Grade went pretty good and her teacher seemed to be trying a bit more but something still didn't seem to be right. Being a military family I have to say the nice thing about this school is that they offer groups and have councelors for kids who's Daddy's or Mommies are deployed . More schools should offer that!
As for the rest of the staff like Admin's etc some are very nice others seem to be getting out of bed with the wrong foot all the time. The lost and found is a joke (well box in one of the hall ways), nothing my daughter ever lost or forgot in one of the rooms was ever to be seen again. The library seems to constantly claim that books weren't returned eventough they did. Oh and the parking to drop your child off and pick up is horrible. There is no real parking lot you pretty much just have the limited room on the street or surrounding streets. Meaning if you want to park on the side of the street right by the school so your child see's you and you have quick and easy access you better start finding a spot at the school by 2:40pm the latest since school ends 3:15pm. I really wish they had a large parking lot to make pick up and drop off not such a hassle!
