  • THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT GOING TO BE TOLERATED! GREG HOWARD MUST GO OR BE MADE TO NOT ONLY APOLOGIZE TO EACH INDIVIDUAL BLACK STUDENT IN HIS CLASS, BUT IF HE WANTS TO KEEP HIS JOB, HE SHOULD BE MADE TO VOLUNTEER HIS TIME AT A â€"AT RISK” YOUTH PROGRAM” AND/OR HAVE TO TAKE SOME KIND OF ETHICS OR HUMANITY CLASS! IF THIS IS UNEXCEPTABLE TO HIM, THEN HE NEEDS TO BE FIRED AND BANNED FROM TEACHING ANYWHERE, EVER!
This kind of stupidity is happening here in our FLORIDA schools with some of our teachers…it’s not the first time and it won’t be the last until we say enough is enough!!

7th-Grade Teacher to Students: Obama is a ‘N’-Word
    October 8th, 2008

7th-Grade teacher to students: Obama is a ‘N’-word. Angry parents in the northwest Florida community of Marianna want a middle school teacher fired after he put the "N”-word on the board to describe Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama. The Marianna Middle School teacher, Greg Howard, is now serving a 10-day suspension after writing an acronym on the dry-erase board on Sept. 26: "C.H.A.N.G.E. - Come Help A N*gg*r Get Elected.” But many parents want the 17-year teacher fired. The seventh-grade social studies teacher’s class has 17 White students, six Black students and one Asian student. Initially he was suspended for the day without pay, but that was elevated to the 10-day punishment. He must also write a letter of apology to students. "We feel like the punishment is sufficient,” Larry Moore, superintendent of the Jackson County School District, told The Detroit Free Press. "We did not feel he had to be fired.” NAACP officials say they will reserve their actions in the case until their investigation is complete. Audrey Wad, who has nieces and nephews at the school, didn’t need any more information before expressing her outrage. "To me, it’s hurtful,” she told the Free Press. "The idea that he would impose his political o pinion on t he children is wrong to me. That’s where he crossed the line.”

  • So this is the great Marianna Middle School that allow racists to teach. I will be sure to enroll my children when they can wear their hoods and gowns. Sims and this teaching staff should be ban for tolerating this.

  • Greg Howard's behavior is outrageous! If he retains his position as a teacher than the administration of the school condones such behavior and are racist as well. This one bad apple indeed spoils the bunch unless the entire bunch was spoiled anyway. We are in the 21st century and he's teaching racist white supremacy nonsense. This school does not deserve a rating. I will make sure the media gets wind of this and every progressive organization. This is something supported by the school's administration and the school system.

  • I have lived in Marianna, worked in Washington county, and worked with Greg Howard. I have moved home and horrified by what I have read, but I cannot believe that it happened. All I saw from Mr. Howard the 5 years I worked with him was that he was a hard worker, expected excellence, and took care of his family. Something else I havn't seen is what happened from Mr. Howard .... what's his explanation? He is not the creator of the phrase. THe last thing I would like to say is that the entire nation is in an uproar of a word used in a classroom that you can hear dozens of times as you walk down a middle school hallway fron all races and religions. But this word use seems to have created more of a personal uproar than the last pedophile in the school.

  • The suspendiing of Greg Howard is abominable. He should be fired, and barred from ever teaching again. He is a racist and a discredit to all teachers in the United States. How dare him try to teach children this trash, and how terrible of you to not punish him by immediate dismissal. You are perpetuating his hate by allowing him to poison childrens' minds. Therefore you are just as responsible.
