  • Just wanted you all to know i went to this grade school in the sixties and it was a very fine school academically and otherwise.I still have very fond memories of it, and look forward to seeing photos of the old original school and the old hill, we had so much fun on! I think Tim Doran is doing a good job as principal and he was kind enough to respond to my inquiry about the building of the new school! You go Denali!!!1

  • I attended this lovely small grade school along with 4 others of my siblings. Mrs. Haggard was the principal and Mrs. Huber the school nurse and i had Mrs. Kanutson in first grade. Those were the days, we learned alot of stuff and the teachers made learning fun, we skated outside in the winter on the ice rink or slid down the big hill with a piece of cardboard, as we didnot have a sled, one slide down and your cardboard was coated with ice and you could really slide. We slid down the front of the hill, brave kids slid off of the side, i wasnot one of them.I was a safety patrol here and got to be on playground duty, we came to school early, wore safety patrol belts and got an id card that entitled us to go to the movies at lacey street theatre for free for being a patrol, it was awesome. I learned how to play violin here and this is where i truly knew i loved singing; though my family still says, "Please dont sing"! ha ha We had such fun.My siblings and i got to be in the cookie and milk program for kids under weight, so every morning we went to the nurses office and got two chocolate chip cookies and a carton of chocolate milk, we didnt want the other kids to know it, cause they would tease us.We all loved our school, administration and teachers, they remain a very special part of my memories always, i am now living back here in my home town, so i will visit the new Denali School soon. My love and very best to all of you.God bless Denali School.
