  • I worked at Woodson for two years as an ancillary teacher, and the only term to describe that hellhole is (...). Kids ran the halls, smoked weed, engaged in (...) activities, and constantly physically and verbally assaulted teachers while administration and police officers (most of whom were most interested in flirting) looked the other way. Former principal never left her office unless she liked something being served for lunch. I spent more time passing out forks and napkins than instructing. Some kids were amazing (aka Head Start), but most were lost to the system after 2nd grade. This school is a disgrace.

  • I worked at Woodson South for 2 years. While I adored and loved the kids, the school was so horrible and depressing that I had to leave. The special education teachers for grades 4-8 were some of the worst educators I have ever experienced in my life. However, the special education teacher for the Kindergarten-2nd grade class was probably one of the best teachers ever. She's kind, caring, and effective. Unfortunately, she was pretty much the only one in the school that I could say that about. Maybe now that they switched principals and assistant principals it may get better, but I always thought of that school as a "sinking ship."

  • Jamal has been at Woodson for several years now and I am so pleased with the care and attention that he receives. I as a parent Love this school for Jamal's needs. And all of the staff that I have had the pleasure to work with have all been very helpful and supportive. For the way that I and Jamal have been supported I give Woodson a 10. Thanks to all of you for being there....Christine Hunter
