  • It's not what it used to be. It
was a proud school but academically/sports. But now it's a mere shell of what it once was. It was well run and a no nonsense place-now it's poorly run and the various discipline codes are a joke. An
    administration that closes it's
doors at 3:30 or earlier and
empties out the school on Fridays at 3- sure show their lack of support for afterschool activities. Some students don't even know who the principal is. Just a voice
of the AP. I went there years
ago when things were much, much different-for the better!!

  • I'm an eight grade honor student and has attended RickOver JR High since the sixth grade. I'm proud of my school because the last school I attended caused a lot of drama in my life and it affected my grades, but thanks to some of my caring teachers they have made a way for me to succeed and become an honor roll student, a cheerleader and get elected as student council. Thanks Rickover Faculty for helping me make it this far 2011 here I come.

  • I went to Rickover I rocked 31 on the court and it is the best school ever we had so much fun in our 2010 year it was crazy. The school spirit changed ever since the basketball team had given them something to cheer about. We all as students had came together as more than just peers. The academics is up to the kids not the teachers so if you hate the school because the "teachers" aren't good enough then you need to look back at your child cause the teachers do all they can. I know they do cause I am going to 1 of the best schools in the nation Mt.Carmel.

  • I graduated from Rickover back in 2003 and this was the absolute WORST school I have ever attended. Miss Iverson was just the assistant principal then. The Principal at the time was rude. He would tell me to tell my friends to comb their hair and he really seemed like he did not want to be there. I felt like I was in prison. We had very limited extracurricular activities and the only way we could go on a field trip was if we sold candy and cookie dough. I also learned NOTHING from here! When I came to the school at the beginning of the year I transferred with all A's. I got all A's at Rickover, but I didn't feel like I had learned anything new. I WAS RIGHT! High School was HELL coming out of this place! I was extremely behind in EVERYTHING! This school was terrible and I wouldn't send my worst enemy here to learn. It should be shut down.

  • I am new to the district from the north west suburbs of Illinois. It is very sad that the school does not offer band or a foreign language but they have various sports activities. In addition, I am all for 0 tolerance for bad student behavior but that school makes no attempt to contact the parents in the event there is an issue. There is also an assumption that the teacher is alway right. As a teacher myself, that is not always true. I dislike the school.

  • The staff at the school is excellent, however, a lot of children have no manners, are crude, and can tell have no home supervision because parents are not taking responsibility for their children's actions. Just because they are low income does not mean they should be "low-class"
