  • there were incidents where English test questions were taken straight off of (...). That is unacceptable and I'm pretty sure it will not help the students. Also, I'm sure the school is having trouble financially due to the fact that they seem to spend their money on unnecessary supplies such as EXPENSIVE SMART BOARDS. From what I have seen, most of the teachers are not even 100% sure how to operate or use them! There have been instances where the teacher will just give up and begin to use them as whiteboards. It kills the whole point of purchasing them. Following up, I'm sure it's just a way they attract new students who don't know how bad this school actually was. My experience was not good and I should have chosen another school after seeing a giant hole in the wall on my first day. Pencader is both disorganized and the management is wrong. Obviously, the classes are way too easy and when students are challenged with tests such as the DSTP and SATs, they perform below average. It's unbelievable and I strongly advise other students to cross this school off their list of schools they are considering. To sum it up altogether, I agree with one of these reviews: Don't believe the hype. Agreed. Don't just go with the school because it's a charter school or because it's free. What's free isn't always good.

  • Sad to say that this school is still disorganized. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE. They changed administration and it is still no better. The current (...) has turned the staff against each other and the kids feel it. What a wasted year for the students! They know how to cover things up. Don't believe the hype.

  • There is a rumor out that this school is going to be taken over by the state soon. The test scores have dropped, and the enrollment is dropping as well. I know a two students with criminal records who are being admitted as upperclassmen. What happened to being selective? This reeks of desperation.

  • The school is very disorganized. The students are out of control. Teachers do not challenge the students. Parents are not interested in getting involved. Extremely poor parent participation at all Pencader events!

  • The teachers here do an outstanding job, but the administration needs work. They'll make you go out and spend a ton of money on uniforms and then they'll change up the rules a few months later. Then you'll have to go out and spend even more. If you've got that kind of money, I guess it won't matter much to you. If you don't, your kids will be the ones stuck in detention for something as miniscule as wearing the wrong type of belt. There are too many unwritten rules at this school, and warnings are rare. It's sad to think that a school's administration can make a teenager feel like a common criminal.

Other than that, the teachers genuinely care for their students and it shows.

  • This school has really turned around! Great School. Wonderful Opportunities! They seem to have weeded out most of the trouble makers. The honors classes are challenging, the teachers are always available to help!
