  • It was hard to imagine why the (...) of this school would place a new student to the district in a classroom with a teacher who had the worst reputation for being unreasonable and flat out mean.(That was an understatement because she put kids down in the classroom which I think is unprofessional and morally wrong. ) It is even more difficult to understand why a student who came from an academically rigorous private school setting would be placed in an academic environment with low academic expectations. This teacher was so incredibly negative and hostile, my child dreaded going to school for the first time in his life. Thinking class placement was a fluke in fifth, he was put in a classroom that was even more in opposition to what he needed, in sixth. Clearly, this administration was not interested in meeting the needs of our child. They have our tax dollars either way. We removed our child and placed him in another school that is so far above Westfield. I had forgotten what school is supposed to be. My child is challenged and being properly prepared for a competitive college admissions process. I discussed my concerns in the superintendent's office but there is absolutely no interest in the reasons for our departure. They think their district , teachers, principals are wonderful. What a joke!

  • Academically it is inferior compared to other schools my kids have attended. No foreign lang. Math expectations are very low. No summer packets or summer reading for most classes. Very little writing. No research papers in fifth. Teachers read to kids in fifth and sixth grade! They play baby games and watch movies during class. Administration is extremely arrogant and does not care too much about parental input. They will do what they want. I don't think they are sincere about education. It seems like they want to dumb down the curriculum so they can have enough workers for the abundance of fast food restaurants in town. Art is a negative experience for many. There are some very terrible teachers and the (...) does not seem to respond to the numerous complaints. It's like talking to a wall.
