As a new student to the district, I am pleased to find another Highschool with at least HALF of my expectations.
HOWEVER!
LHS staff seems to punish much too often. Rather than solving the problem, they seem to like make more of one.
Personally I have yet to get ISS, suspension, or saturday school... but I am feeling it's right along the corner. I know I am not a bad kid, but bad luck is ALWAYS on my side... Whether it's a misunderstanding or I'm not even involved. I'm sure the overpowered staff will get me kicked OUT if I do not speak up.

extra note... I almost got Saturday School for being NEW. As I had an F in my GYM class as of the first day, due to me not being at school the first half of the month.

Overall I am displeased, but LHS is much better than my previous schools in Olathe and Lees Summit.
By far, third best high school I have attended.

I am very disappointed with Leavenworth High School. They seem to be a poor school and the teachers do not seem to care to make a difference with the kids. Suspend the, stick them in ISS, or give them a Saturday school. The vice principals come from the same mentalityand their professionalism leaves a LOT to be desired. Thank goodness I am out of this school district in January. I have never had such a poor and negative experience with a school until my daughter started attending this school.

What can I say? As someone who actually attends LHS, I feel I must be honest. I love LHS. Sure, the food in the Caf sucks. A LOT of the people here are glorified "gangstas" who would wet their pants if they ever met a real "gangsta." Our football and baseball team sucks (but our basketball is pretty good). Most of the teachers are either creepers or people who just don't care how we do. But the few at LHS, the small amount of teachers, the 10 percent or so of the student body that can hold a conversation consisting of more that three words, make this place worth it. Yes, the air conditioning only works in a third of the school, and yes, only in the wintertime... but LHS has a (mostly) diverse student body. Lansing may beat us in quality of living, but at least *some* of our people are real.
