  • My son is going into the 2nd grade this year at The Morrell Park Ele/Middle School. I am extremely pleased with the school because of their principal Mr. Connelly. He shows particular interest in his students education and welfare in his school. I've seen a great deal of changes in his school since he came on board. My son has been on the Honor Roll since Pre-K and Kindergarten and in the First grade he was on the Principals Honor Roll for 3 quarters. My son has improved in his reading and math every year. The teachers he has had, have all been excepional with his learning and care giving in the school. My son will continue going to this for as long as he continues on this track. The school does get the parents and students involved in after school activities, awards ceremonies, feild trips, and holiday parties. The improvements that could be made are only in my opionion, which are Security...it needs to be less easy for an adult to get into the school (Big concern), Cleanliness needs to improve a great deal, especially bathroom cleanliness (soap, towels, toliet tissue, clean floors). Imprrovements have started as I see them during the summer and school year soon approaching.
I do reccommend this school because of the principal, teachers, and parent volenteers....Have a fun school year!

  • Morrell Park has improved since the beginning of this school year. I was feeling good about the direction things were going until somebody stepped in and fired all of the school's best teachers. Most of the other loyal teachers at the school are transfering on their own because of this terrible decision. My child was reading better, doing better in math, and coming home excited about the new information and skills she was learning. When I heard the news of the teachers being taken away from the children, I began to cry. No one should be able to take away a school's best teachers. Now all of the students who made improvements are going to fall very far behind because the new teachers are going to be so focused on adjusting to a new school and new teaching job that they will not be able to give full attention to the students. I gave a grade of D for the disruption in my child's education that this decision has caused. I would have given an F but there is none on the list. For your child's sake, I recommend that you send them to a different school - one that follows school policy and appreciates the hard work of excellent teachers.
