  • GARBER IS A DECENT SCHOOL WITH MAINLY GOOD TEACHERS, EXCLUDING ONE PHYS ED TEACHER. GARBER ALSO HAS ONLY ONE TREMENDOUS COUNSELOR. HOWEVER, GARBER HAS A VERY SERIOUS DRUG AND ALCOHOL PROBLEM WHICH IS NOT AGGRESSIVELY ADDRESSED. MUCH MORE EMPHASIS IS ON MEETING STATE STANDARDS, INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON PROBLEMS THAT AFFECT STUDENT'S LIVES. SOME TEACHERS, A COUNSELOR AND SEVERAL COACHES SET HORRIBLE EXAMPLES. MANY PROBLEMS GO UNDER THE RUG, BASED ON WHO THE STUDENT IS AND HOW MUCH PARENT MONEY GOES TOWARD ATHLETICS.

  • School seems to be very concerned with educational goals set for standardized evaluations set by the state and federal guidelines. These goals seem to be met however, the student interaction is somewhat clouded by favoritism and at times discrimination. Not to make a rash generalization it seems a few teachers are at odds with students from diverse backgrounds. This attitude ultimately affects the success of a certain student body population. Additionally this attitude affect individualism and creativity for some students which in reality contradicts the mission statement of Garber High School and the entire Essexville School District.

On a positive note I have found the MAJORITY of administration and staff to be truly dedicated to the success of their students. KUDOS to you all.

As a parent lets be very focused on individual employees of the school district that would allow their own agenda to overwhelm the agenda of the district and the students.
