  • I would like to see some ownership taken by teachers and counselors. I hear story after story of no contact from teachers to kids who are struggling, falling behind or failing. Children who get a poor grade should be assessed for why they have earned that grade. Did they fail to turn in material, fail to understand or are they having personal/emotional difficulties? An attempt to teach the material to those who don't understand it should be made again - don't just hand the poor grade and move on. Kids with personal issues need help so show compassion and find them some support. Not all children learn the same way but this district is rigid and set in it's ways after elementary schools. Look at the statistics. Maybe it's time to do away with tenure and put a microscope on the guidance counseling.
