  • The principal is very understanding of the needs of the students and staff. The staff is highly qualified in their teaching area. Students rank above state and national averages in testing. There is a guidance person on staff who teaches classes in self-esteem as being available to students and staff for consults. Special needs students are served in a least restrictive manner. Some attend only part of the day in the Special needs room, some spend only a limited time there, and others are monitored in the regular classroom. Students in the primary grades that need extra help have that available in the Title 1 room where there are 4 staff members to meet their needs. Students have either P.E or music daily. Many of the classrooms have projectors connected to a computer for whole class instruction. Students attend computer lab usually twice a week. The library contains over 4000 books and most of these books are on the AR program which is a required component of the intermediate grades.Extracurricular activities and sports are offered for students in grades 4-6. There is an afterschool program available for those that need extra help or a place to be until 5:00 pm. Breakfast and lunch are served. Since the building is only 5 years old, it is in excellent shape and is well maintained. The playground has a large grass area for both primary and intermediate students. Small gravel is under the playground equipment in both areas. Basketball areas are provided in each area as well as sidewalks for hopscotchand jumprope. The intermediate playground also has a tether ball area. Grades 3 & 5 often have 30-60 minutes of homework due to the introduction of new materials at these grades. All other grades have limited homework, but reading 20 minutes or more nightly is highly suggested. Of course homework load depends upon students use of work time in the classroom.
