  • I agree with everyone that said this school was awful. I can't stand waking up everyday and attending this school. There are maybe 2 or 3 good teachers. Everyone else is either rude or cares about giving the students who's parents run the school good grades. The kids there are mean. They only care about material things, so unless you have these items you will not be amongst the popular crowd. This school is dreadful and I can't wait until I graduate.

  • My family transferred from a town in the midwest to Emerson. I was appalled at the school system here. There is alcohol, drugs, and disrespectful kids, along with apathetic teachers. I yanked my son out and he's now being home schooled.

  • I have to agree with the poster who described how dreadful the Emerson school system is. Apparently, the person giving it a five apple rating is one of the apple-polishing students that the other poster described. He or she also was obviously one of those bullies mentioned.

I too, had a lousy experience there. (Although I wasn't bullied). It turned me off from school. It wasn't until years later, that I decided to try college. I thrived.

Unlike Emerson, college was a nurturing environment where everything wasn't done by rote.

I moved away from Emerson, far, far away, and don't ever care to come back to frog-town ever again. It's a little town for small minded people.

  • That last review is completely made-up. I went through the school system, and then CHOSE to raise my family there because of the close-knit family feel of the community. Everyone knows each other and looks out for one another. It is a safe, wonderful little town if you are lucky enough to live there. To the writer below, what Fortune 5oo Company hires someone who doesn't proofread his/her work? Go Cavos!!!

  • Emerson High School was the worst experience of my entire life. I succeeded in life DESPITE going there.

The education was awful and the teachers were negative. Everything was done by negative reinforcement and threats.

To succeed, you and your parents had to kiss up. And, you had to conform. Independence and creative thinking were discouraged, and punished.

Speaking of punishing, the bullies were not punished. The administration looked the other way and tolerated the rampant bullying that goes on there.

I was in the Gifted Child society when I was in grammar school, yet I told by my guidance that I "was not college material." I went on to a two year college where being creative and independent was valued. I made the Dean's List, and went on to transfer to an Ivy League School.

Now I'm a high level executive in a Fortune 500 corporation. As I said originally, I succeeded DESPITE Emerson Jr/Sr High School.

Avoid this school at all costs. Home School if you must. Anything is better than Emerson Jr/Sr High.
