  • When I lived in the YNP area, both of my children attended Wawona School. It was a very special experience for the both of them. At that time the Principal was a female. She was very well suited to be both administrator, teacher, and good example to the students. The student body then was around eighteen. My daughter started in Kindergarten, and my son was four grades ahead of her. It was a good start to their scholastic future. The close proximity to Yosemite, and the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains offered opportunities that most schools have to travel many miles to enjoy. And the deer! There were many Mule deer there to see up close. The field trips were also very fun and educational. My son loved the trip to the Jelly Belly and Hershey's factories.
    Overall, a very special school!
