  • My mother found a class ring at my grandmother's house from 1976 that we believe belongs to a "Emma Louzina Kelly". If anyone has any information on this person, please contact me. Thanks!

  • I was a student here from 1986-1988. Alot of prejudice towards players who should have started or deserved more playing time but because of booster club politics, they where passed by. Lots of students there where robbed of scholarships due to this. There talents where not observed because of wealthy parents donating to the booster club so there child could recieve playing time that they didnt deserve when you had more talent sittin and watching. i dont know how it is now, but thats the way it was back then. i would not let my child go there because I wouldnt want him/her to feel the pain and get robbed out of an opportunity they could get somewhere else.

  • I am a graduate of Cape Fear C/O 2006! While attending this school I could not wait to get out. I was one of the trouble makers per se. I would like to address the comment that the principal is more concerned with removing troubled students rather than helping them. I have witnessed and experienced the ways in which the principal handles troublesome students. As a "repeat offender" so to speak, he gave me chance after chance. There is only so much you can do before you have to put your foot down and decide that you have given enough chances. I have noticed that most of the times the children repeatedly getting into trouble have parents that go into the principals office (if they even take the time to do that) and automatically take the child's side. The parents of these kids want to blame the administration and staff for something there child has done. This does not enforce the punishment the child is receiving and the child feels it is okay to keep getting into trouble because in their mind, (Mom and Dad will be on my side). Eventually as principal you have to say enough is enough and remove the child from the situation if the child and parent are unwilling to cooperate. My parents were some of the few that came into the office and said, how can we help fix the problem. Maybe if the parents stood with the administration and staff and provided a united front the child would actually act right. When in school at Cape Fear I felt as though the staff was out to get me at every corner. When confronted with something I had done I was quick to come up with a story that somehow spun it and made it the staffs fault. As I have grown and graduated I look back at all Mr. Jernigan and the staff of Cape Fear High School have done for me and how hard they worked to make sure I succeeded and I personally can't think of a more caring and concerned environment for a child to attend school.

  • I have already graduated one child from Cape Fear H.S. and will do the same with another child next year. There are no perfect schools, however by far, Cape Fear is one of the best around the area. I commend Mr. Jernigan for his zero tolerance stance when it comes to disregard for students and faculty which creates an environment that is not conducive for learning and growth. We have to continue to support the saying "it takes a village to raise a child". However, the foundation must be set in the home. Thanks to Cape Fear teachers I commend you highly for being mentors and leaders.
