  • Generally speaking, Cheatham Middle School is a good public school. This was my son's first year and we found navigating through their politics and unwritten rules to be a bit of a challenge. I don't fear for my son's safety, but at the same time, I can see that their policies concerning bullying require quite a bit of revision and their implementation of discipline in that area is a disgrace. Discipline as a whole is not served fairly across the board in conjunction with the crime. However, all of that aside, my son's homeroom teacher is probably the best we could hope for in the 5th grade as far as providing him with a solid education. Even though there have been some personality clashes, I wouldn't have wanted him to have anyone else. We have 3 more years to attend there. I'm really hoping to see improvements each year. I would really like to see a PTO. I think it's terrible one doesn't currently exist. I know alot of parents that really want to be involved. Also, I think a student council for grades 7 & 8 would be a great pre-highschool experience. My child attended a Catholic School when he first became school age. I'm well aware the grass is not usually greener on the other side and I do prefer this school to the Catholic school. Cheatham Middle School, in my opinion, has alot of work to do to be as great of a place as West Cheatham Elementary. WEST IS BEST!

  • The principal is not a very nice person. I asked her to take the time to talk to me about my son, and she refused to stay for the parent teacher conference to help deal with a teacher. One of the teachers I have issues with, she doesn't want to take the time with the children to find out why they are not doing good. I just don't understand why they wouldn't knowing how some parents are. Some parents don't care and that is why the children end up failing because no one takes the time with them. My son likes it here cause he doesn't have to wear uniforms and his friends, but says they have way to much work. I agree, when it takes 2-3 hours of homework every night. What are they doing in school?
