  • I do believe that sports are indeed placed above education. The sports teams get new uniforms every year, while Rhea County Academic Champions (A club for smarter students) must be placed below and raise their own money. Teachers that are also coaches miss a lot of class days while prepping for the season, so that class gets behind other classes. The teachers also assign a lot more homework than what is needed. I spend at least 5 hours after school doing my homework. The principal is amazing and does everything a principal should. However, the top ten students get barely any recognition for their achievements, with an exception of the top 3. We need to be bragging on all the top ten, not just the valedictorian. There is also a high level of cheating in classes and on tests that teachers are unaware of. The classrooms are small and most of the time, you can hear the class next door more than you can hear the teacher standing right in front of you.

  • its a good school but i agree the focus is more on sports and it is a tad bit over crowded. i'll be glad when the new school is built.

  • Coaches masquerading as teachers. Focus is directed on extra-curricular activities (football...) more than education.

  • Great school, wonderful teachers, but just a little over-crowded.
