  • Staff is extremely caring at Plummer. There is an overabundance of foster children and special education students probably linked to the economy. Good parent attendance at school events but PTA is not well attended in spite of push by administration and involved parents. Interventions offered for all students. Office staff cooperative and friendly. Administrators knowledgeable and helpful. Although state ratings are not high, this school deserves a higher ranking for what they do with students. My family is very pleased with the education my child has received.

  • It's great that this school added an Asst principal. They could do a better job with requiring teacher to post lesson plans and tests online. Needs to work on getting more chairs for school assemblings and turning on the Air conditioning. And, the PTA has not had a meeting. I have never seen a PTA meeting in the five years I have dealt with the school. They are trying to turn this school around. My suggestion would also be to ask some of the teachers to early retire because some of them have lost touch. You can no longer bully kids into doing what you want them to do like you might have done in the 60's. The Principal hides which is probably good considering she has a tendancy to put her foot in her mouth (not very multicultural) which is interesting because the school is primarily African American. She lack the concepts of dealing with intelligent parents and take criticism personal and internalizes any disputes. Many of the teachers do the same. I saw that CHISD is thinking about closing this school or Bray Elementary. Although the Asst Principal and some of the other staff and teachers are great...Bray is a better school. If it comes down to either or close Plummer. Bray has managed to do what Plummer can not which is better community and parent support.
