  • East Avenue school is one of the best elementary schools in Hayward. My three children have attended and thrived in the school. The teachers are doing the best that they can, considering the massive changes for the 2010-2010 school year. Currently, the school is relocated to another site, they have had three different principals in the past three years, many new teachers that were reshuffled during the massive layoff, the primary class sizes have increased from 20 to 32. With all that said, the teachers are responsive and do care about the students. To know more about what the school is doing, join PTSA or volunteer and make a difference.

  • The principal seems overwhelmed and unable to do her job. She does not know proper policies or state law in regards to special education, she is full of empty promises. The school is having a bullying epidemic and besides one little paragraph on the monthly newsletter no plans have been put in place to solve the problem. The teachers are indifferent and unwilling to be flexable to children with speech and learning disablities. Children are allowed to just roam the school grounds and even leave ithem without anyone stopping them. The entire staff has just stopped caring about the children. This school is horrible especially to the parents who live down the hill and therefor have less money. Do you best not to have your children in this school.
