  • My son started attending Nixon-Smiley Middle School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 school year. I felt as a parent that this school was the better choice in the area to attend. The whole staff at the school made us feel welcome from the beginning. He has done very well in all his classes, even the high school classes he is taking. All the teachers are very interested in their students sucess. It was easy for him to meet new friends. He was able to participate in athletics and enjoyed it very much. That was something he couldn't do at his previous school. All the coaches were so helpful in teaching him the basics and letting him participate and feel part of the team. He even medaled in Track! He is very happy and looks forward to going to school. Recently he was selected to be in the National Junior Honor Society and will be inducted in May. As we look forward to the future, we hope that the Nixon-Smiley High School where he will attend next year meets or exceeds our expectations just as the Middle School did this year.

  • My children have been going to Nixon-Smiley schools for 3 years now and the school system is great. My oldest will be attending high school this year. I have faith in the teachers and the staff to give my children the education they need. I adore the staff that works at the Central Office, they are a pleasure to talk with. And everyone at the schools are willing to hear what you have to say and they will listen with an open mind. We moved from the big city and at first I was against my kids going to a small town school, but now I am GLAD they are here...
