  • Oscar Smith High School is the best kept secret of south eastern Virginia.

It is a fabulous school with amazing administration faculty. It does, like any other school, have it's flaws, but it was one of the best decisions of my life to attend Oscar Smith (I went from a private Christian school in elementary and middle school to Oscar Smith for high school). Many people are scared away by the particular demographics in this school, but these demographics have, for me, enhanced my experience as a student, and taught me many valuable life skills.

The IB program that is housed in Oscar Smith is a particular high point of the school. It is a wonderful program for those students who are dedicated to their education, and the students in it add a lot to the school as a whole.

I sincerely believe that Oscar Smith is a great environment for students to begin their lives as adults, and that it provides many opportunities for students to learn life-long skills.

Unfortunately, many people who live in this area are turned off by this school because of unfair and superficial prejudices. If you are looking for a school for your child, please do not discount Oscar Smith because of the ill-informed and discriminatory opinions of such people.

  • The GC by the name of Mrs.Lamb is very unhelpful.I can send her an email with a very important question concerning my son and I will NOT get an answer until I email the principal the following week and I take my question to him.

I have met Mrs.Lamb and it's pretty obvious that she chooses which students to help.I have learned that there are at least 2 staff members in that school who chooses which nationality of students they will help and I THANK GOD this is my sons LAST year at that school.
