  • I have a 4th grade Grandson who participated in an incentive which allowed the students to bring game systems to school on 10/16/09 for classroom use. His game system was stolen while in his classroom. What was to be a reward turned into a negative learning experience for him. He now knows that he cannot trust his classmates but what is worse is that the adults involved did not protect him or his belongings. Should these expensive items that the children were encouraged to bring been protected like classroom equipment or teacher's belongings? Even worse is that children were allowed to bring items of this nature to school. The temptation is too great for some children who don't have access to game systems and they resort to theft. Very sad indeed but responsible adults should know better than to put children in a situation that cannot be controlled. My grandson will eventually get another system. He saved the money for that one so he is aware that not everything comes easy. He's learned his lesson. I hope the adults involved and agreed to this activity do not allow this again. Maybe the school can provide an activity that all can participate in such as providing a game system that children can take turns with or something more educational.
